Satirical newspaper, The Advertiser, has broken new ground in investigative journalism, this time by finding new ways to funnel reporting budgets into OnlyFans subscriptions.
According to colleagues, ‘Tiser journalist and ‘content creator’ enthusiast Kelping Subto has an entire folder on his desktop labelled “For Research Purposes”. Adelaide Mail understands that the contents of the folder is crucial to an upcoming investigation into Adelaide’s Top 20 OnlyFans creators. It’s the third such countdown this year.
A spokesperson from the state’s leading satirical news source told Adelaide Mail that the subscriptions are in the public interest to help understand “the socio-economic impact of hot tradie content”.
“If we don’t investigate this, who will?”, the spokesperson asked us over a Zoom call while clearly distracted by something on his second screen. “Channel Seven? I can’t see Mike Smithson getting his hands dirty with this real journo work”.
Critics of the coverage should not expect things to change any time soon. In a sign of commitment to local investigative journalism, The ‘Tiser has teased an in-depth exposé on the “socio-cultural impacts of foot pics”, “a breakdown the crisis of pay-to-chat tips” and four more lists of “South Australia’s hottest OnlyFans creators”.
