Tea Tree Plus prepares for Christmas rush, expecting up to 27 shoppers each day

DAN SCHMIDT

Tea Tree Plus, Modbury’s third best shopping centre, is the the lesser known and frequented sister shop of Tea Tree Plaza, Modbury’s fifth best shopping centre.

Bracing for an onslaught of last minute Christmas shoppers, staff at Tea Tree Plus are preparing themselves for unprecedented levels of shoppers, expecting up to nearly 30 people visiting the centre each day.

‘It’s already started, had north of twenty in here yesterday’, frantically stated Tea Tree Plus director Ray Dior-Renthals as he rushed around quickly fixing up nothing in particular.

‘Savers is absolutely hectic right now. Yeah, it’s mainly just people dropping their crap off outside before Christmas, but a few are coming in for a wander too, it’s absolute chaos!’ Ray told us as he slightly adjusted a display sign outside of Phil Hoffman Travel.

‘People are really starting to cotton on to the fact that this is a great place to get your Christmas shopping done’.

We didn’t have time to ask Ray if that pun was intentional, as he was already sprinting towards Rebel Sport.

‘That is, if you can put up with all these crowds!’ he cried, echoing through the empty centre.

‘Oh boy, here they come!’ turning his attention to the opening automatic doors.
