Just five months after signing up to run in this Sunday’s City-Bay fun run, Loaf Sedent has begun (and ended) his training for the upcoming 12km run with a 40m sprint for an outbound bus.
The would-be runner’s City-Bay journey began in May when he signed up for the fun run during a regrettable burst of fleeting ambition that also involved signing a 12-month contract with Derrimut Gym.
Sedent, from Walkerville, maintains that he could have been a professional runner, if only knee injuries, full-time work, a sluggish running speed and a complete lack of training discipline had not gotten in his way.
“I’ve been following a strict schedule in the lead-up,” Sedent told Adelaide Mail while on his haunches, some 40 minutes after he had missed his bus. “Been carb loading pretty hard and making sure I’m getting my chip intake up to avoid any cramps.
“That was a good run this morning, PB, so now I’m well and truly into tapering.”
Despite the idiotic hubris and lack of training, Sedent is hopeful he will be able to achieve a record.
“I’ll be going downhill, so I’m probably good for a state record. Either way, it’s for a good cause, or some shit.” He never signed up to raise money for a charity, we checked.
