Adelaide in midst of annual coloured chalk shortage

‘Tis the season for Christmas pageants throughout the state, and with that comes the yearly coloured chalk supply shortage.

Parents are travelling to Limestone Coast to harvest, cut, sculpt and artificially colour slabs of limestone for the kids

Prices have surged on what little coloured chalk is left in stores, with local big chalk investors riding the traditional November sales boom. The situation has got so fire for Adelaide families  that have left getting their chalk too late, that many are turning to dodgy chalk black markets or street dealers.

In some extreme circumstances, reports state that parents are travelling to Limestone Coast to harvest, cut, sculpt and artificially colour slabs of limestone for the kids.
