Australia-US tensions ease as LAPD also shoot Kane Cornes with rubber bullet

TRENT BARTLETT

In a symbolic gesture of reconciliation, the Los Angeles Police Department has reportedly fired a rubber bullet at former firefighter, Kane Cornes, significantly de-escalating tensions between the U.S. and Australia.

The incident follows global outrage after an Australian journalist was struck by a rubber bullet during protests in LA. But with Cornes now also copping one, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared the matter “all square.”

Cornes, however, is not so circumspect telling Adelaide Mail “I think I saw Tex getting around in LAPD riot gear”.

Taylor Walker has not responded to requests for comment from Adelaide Mail, although we’re assuming that’s because we were hiding around the side of his house waiting for him to take his bins out. Usually we get good interviews with Tex from this spot but we were shouting to be heard over Caroline Wilson, several Advertiser reporters and the guys from The Crowject trying to get him to wear a Crom beanie.

It’s understood that Cornes will be using the incident on next week’s Agenda Setters in his InKANE in the Brain segment to list all the people that he would like to shoot with rubber bullets before penning a column for the Footy Record titled ‘Five Times I’ve Been Attacked By The Truth’.
